My theme for today is the one that I hope reflects you and I am calling it, “Hey I’m gorgeous inside” and I hope you are too.

So, stay with me for the next few minutes as we talk about being beautiful inside and out.

I’m gorgeous inside! That’s probably the headline you were thinking about when you woke up this morning, but I have to ask, “Are you gorgeous inside?” I hope so.

Every day I have clients who on the outside seemed to have it all, a big job, big title, big house, big car, beautiful clothes, and yet if I were to ask this simple question, they would look at me like I had two heads. More importantly, I feel sure that they would be stuck and unable to give me an answer.

For some reason, we equate gorgeous to an outside phenomenon and not the inside where many tend to believe that one’s business brain should rule for power, money, and prestige. Goodness knows I am not against power or money or prestige, but I believe to be a whole and healthy person we need to learn to balance the outside and the inside. The fact is most of my clients are gorgeous on the outside from my perfectly quaffed businessmen and women to those in the political realm (because we don’t usually elect ugly people) but the whole idea of being gorgeous on the outside is not the same as gorgeous on the inside and I’m pretty sure you know what I’m talking about.

I remember once while campaigning door to door I came to a small home, gently loved but worn close to disrepair by years of neglect. As I was about to knock on the door to introduce myself and ask for a vote, the door opened, and the lady who came to greet me, though worn by age, was stunningly beautiful in spirit. In her day I’m sure she was the bell of the ball and even time and life couldn’t take that away from her. She was gorgeous on the inside and in our time together although short on the front porch many years ago it has left a lifelong impression on me. At this stage of life, most of us can’t change what we look like on the outside without boatloads of money, but we can certainly be a work in progress on the inside, and thus my headline today.

I can comfortably say, and I hope you can too – that I am gorgeous inside. Just like I will never forget the lady who came to the door who had the brightest blue eyes and was very spry and young for her age and was so happy to see somebody at her door. We had a delightful time in those minutes together and walking away I can remember wishing somebody had the money to help her with her home at least on the outside but I must say she as far as I could tell lived life to its fullest, she took advantage of opportunities in the community, and she was a delight to her friends and family.

I hope you are gorgeous on the inside dear listener because as you well know, the outside will fade in time. But you who you are beautiful on the inside that’s going to be a blessing for a lifetime to friends and family.
